The new WTO for footwear

18 August 2005

The World Shoe Trade Organisation (WSTO) is a new body for the leather shoe sector that will be set up in São Paulo, Brazil. The announcement was made by Massimo Donda, president of CEDDEC (the European Confederation of the Shoe Retailer Associations) and Federcalzature, Peter Mangione, president of FDRA (Footwear Distributors & Retailers of America), Antonio Miguel Espolador Neto, president of ABLAC (Brazilian Shoe Retailers Association) and Bill Boettge, president of NSRA (US National Shoe Retailers Association. The main reason for the creation of the new organisation is that many manufacturers feel the need to build new relationships and meet on a regular basis to discuss the problems concerning the footwear sector.
