Turkey’s leather exports up in 2021

25 January 2022

Turkey’s leather exports accounted for 0.8% of the country’s total exports in 2021. Compared to 2020, leather exports increased by 29.6% in 2021. For Turkish finished leather and wet blue exports, India was the biggest market with a share of 14.5%. Italy was second with 12% and Germany third with 7.9%.

The flashiest number in the 2021 report is that Turkish raw leather exports to Italy increased by 369% and reached around US$3.5 million. This number is small because raw leather exports from Turkey are very difficult due to high government taxation.
