Waterer Spiers leather collection goes on display

8 July 2009

The exhibition includes the Waterer Spiers collection from the Museum of Leather Craft also based in Northampton. The collection is one of the finest collections of leather artefacts in the world, preserving craftsmanship of leather through the ages. The collection, which will be open to the public, will be displayed at The University's Avenue Gallery on the UCN Avenue campus. The collection was founded in 1946 by John Waterer and Claude Spiers and includes information on the objects relating to their manufacture.

The centenary celebration culminates in a weekend of festivities and activities between July 17-19 including a banquet, conference, fashion show and award ceremony.
