The American Leather Chemist’s (ALCA) 98th annual meeting this June, 20-23, will adopt a new format. The full technical programme has been condensed into two consecutive days starting on Friday June 21.

The meeting is being held at Skytop Lodge, Skytop, Pennsylvania (www.skytop.com).

There will be a theme evening with awards on Friday evening and the annual banquet on Saturday night. A detailed schedule can be seen on the ALCA (www.leatherchemists.org) and IULTCS (www.iultcs.org) websites.

This year’s technical programme will be highlighted by the Wilson Memorial Lecture. The subject is the preservation of historical leathers. The lecture will be given by Roy Thomson, chief executive, Leather Conservation Centre, Northampton, UK.

There will be 25 additional lectures, equally divided between presenters from the US and the rest of the world. Topics include wet-end chemistry, finishing, tanning theory, environmental, and waste utilisation.
