‘Cheer up! Collaboration is the keyword as companies, scientists and designers join forces to combine skills and creativity.’ This new phrase will be an important factor in Stahl’s presentation of leather fashion at Tanning Tech. The new emphasis will be complemented by
a totally new approach to presenting Stahl’s display of colours and themes for a variety of applications.
The most important aspect of the display will be colour. The colour palette will be based on Stahl Europe’s Fashion Forecast for autumn/winter 2005/2006. A series of dark blues, greens, golds and
purples comprise the ‘Waxy’ colours and help to create a modern look. In contrast, pastel beiges, violets, browns, blues and greens form colours representing ‘Softness’ and provide a look of reality. Brighter violets, purple, sage green, blue and brown form the ‘Anticato’ colours with an original appearance. Bright brown, purple, red, green and blue are at the heart of the ‘Radiance’ colours representing temptation. Lastly, a group of browns, tans, reds, purples, greens and blue-greens form the ‘Embellished’ colours for a cultural look.
The display is divided into six inspirations, each using the same colours. ‘Raw Elegance’ is based
on innovative authority. ‘Stylised Protest’ is a range of products using advanced technologies. ‘Irresistible Charm’ creates a sense of fluidity, while ‘Elaborated Richness’ captures a dramatic and romantic mood. ‘Contradictory Revolution’ brings a variety of shapes through unexpected forms and ‘Reality’ is the casual selection based on ecological spirit and street vocation.
The creation of innovative but practical products allows the display to promote emotional reactions including light, touch, warmth and sound. This is combined with the fashion demand for naturalness, quality and craftsmanship.
The display will be based around a number of colour themes used
to give an overall feeling of consistency. Lightness will be simple and without exaggeration. Colours, structure, treatments and handle,
all express lightness through comfort, elegance and nonchalance. New developments will be used to bring natural materials and looks
to a higher and lighter level.
The key for new glossy surfaces will be the contrast of matt and shine. Inspirations will include ceramics, shellacs and glass-like materials as well as greasy and waxy finishes with a natural shine. New developments will bring in new phosphorescent effects.
Some leathers will be soft,
comforting and skin-like, while
others will be warm to the touch as a result of brushed and felted effects that complement the comeback of wool. Leather on display will be inspired by new materials and
surfaces such as denim and canvas. Surfaces will be moulded and manipulated with multi-layering treatments and dimensional prints to create three-dimensional effects.
New laser cutting techniques will accompany other techniques in the creation of lace work and placement patterns. Other see-through effects will include punching and slashing. Other textures will include pixilated geometry and refined decorative and natural structures. Pattern will be integral with the structure of the leather, while designs will be eye-catching but without exaggeration. Finishes will be combined to create new innovative expressions.
This eye-catching display will form the basis for other leather fairs around the world in the next year.
