BASF are strengthening their international brand by introducing a standardised email address for all employees. The new format (firstname.lastname@basf.com) will be introduced from December 5 and will be used by all group companies with BASF in their name and which use the BASF logo in their market activities.
‘Approximately 60,000 new email addresses will be introduced as a result of the change-over’, explained Andrew Pike, head of BASF’s Information Services division. ‘The new email addresses will make it even easier for our customers to contact us because the email address is derived directly from the employee’s name in most cases’, he said. At the same time, BASF will introduce a number of improvements to their email system, such as an additional anti-virus function and a more effective spam filter for unwanted emails.
More than 80% of all email users in the BASF group will be affected by the change. The new addresses will be introduced region by region: from December 5 in Europe; from January 16 in South America; from February 13 in parts of Asia Pacific; and from March 6 in North America. The last employees in Asia Pacific will receive their new email addresses in August 2006. The old addresses will remain valid for 12 months.
