Tongerpu-based Haining Leather Town, is funded by Haining Leather Town who have provided a total investment of 450 million yuan ($67 million), will open for business on September 28, 2010. In terms of the scale it becomes the third largest production and sales base for leather clothing in China, next to the leather markets in Haining and Xinji.
The newly constructed Leather Shopping Mall will provide commercial space of 160,000 sq m and a further 10,000 sq m for a business centre and hotel. Due to its location the Leather Shopping Mall will become a distribution centre for leather and leather clothing for the northern part of China.
The opening of the Leather Shopping Mall has attracted many leading brands into Haining city and has received lots of attention from buyers from Russia and nearby countries. Tongerpu is a historic leather town with a rich supply of raw materials, and is expected to be an important outlet for cities in Northern China and Eastern Asia.
