SATRA have invested more than £50,000 in new equipment to expand their capability to assess the chemical permeation of industrial products, including chemical-resistant gloves and suits.

A new gas chromatograph with a custom-designed gas sampling system has doubled SATRA’s capacity to test against volatile solvents, while a data logger has automated current equipment used for the analysis of acidic and alkali solutions.

A further investment has also been made in a new automated bespoke system using Ultra Violet (UV) detection. This allows SATRA to carry out testing on a wide range of non-volatile substances such as drugs, disinfectants and pesticides etc.

‘We now believe that SATRA are able to offer the most comprehensive range of chemicals for this type of work in Europe’, says SATRA head chemist Jackie Glasspool.
