International leather chemical manufacturers, Clariant, have officially opened a regional facility in the heart the Mexican tanning area of León. The purpose built facility has been constructed to specifically serve tanneries in the León area. Both technical and sales support will be housed inside the new centre, which opened on January 23.
Adrian Meier, managing director, Clariant leather division – worldwide officially opened the new plant. The inauguration took place in front of an audience comprising key customers, suppliers and staff from Clariant Mexico and Clariant worldwide.
The new 1,750sq m facility includes a pilot plant (featuring pilot scale tannery equipment), a laboratory, administration offices and chemical storage and warehouse areas.
‘The inauguration of the León facility of Clariant Mexico is an important step for us to better serve our tanning clients at a local level’, said Francesco Pignani, director of Clariant’s, textile leather and paper chemicals division (TLP), speaking at the opening.
