Croatian leather and leather products imports in the first two months of this year were 24.4% lower year-on-year at US$54 million.
The number of people employed in Croatia’s leather industry in February was 1.9% lower than in January and 8.2% lower than in February 2008. In comparison, overall employee numbers in Croatia in February were 8% lower year-on-year.
he average gross monthly wage in Croatia’s leather industry in January was US$638, a month-on-month decrease of 0.8% and a year-on-year increase of 0.5%. In comparison, the average gross monthly wage in Croatia in January was US$1,360, a month-on-month decrease of 2% and a year-on-year increase of 4.8%.
Croatia’s Central Bureau of Statistics reports that there were 454,000 head of cattle in Croatia on December 1, 2008, compared with 467,000 on the same date in 2007. There were 643,000 sheep on December 1, 2008, as against 646,000 on December 1, 2007.
