The first Nairobi international leather and footwear expo and conference will take place at the Kenyatta International Conference Centre from December 1-3, 2005. The organisers describe Nairobi as a hub for eastern and central Africa making it a natural choice for this exhibition.
The event is organised by ESALIA with the support of the African Federation of Leather and Allied Industries (AFLAI) and is described as a testimony to efforts made by the industry, African governments and development agencies, including the Common Fund for Commodities, Centre for Development of Enterprises, Unido and the International Trade Centre, to integrate the African leather sector into the global market.
Many African countries, as well as international companies dealing with leather and leather products including machinery manufacturers, chemicals and components suppliers, footwear and leathergoods manufacturers and hides and skins dealers, have expressed an interest.
This international event is a one-stop window for those in the sector to showcase their latest technology and products, enhance their business opportunities and extend their markets to the global community, the enlarged COMESA, and SADC etc.
