German chemical makers, Dr Th Böhme KG, highlighted a number of post tanning products at Tanning Tech. They included the following:
Cutapol LFZ: This beige amphoteric liquid is a combination of ester sulfonates, alkyl ammonium esters, natural waxes and sulfated animal oils. LFZ renders the leather a soft, round and waxy feel and is particulary suitable for fatliquoring aniline leathers.
It has excellent fogging values, good dyeability and levelness as well as excellent lightfastness and heat yellowing resistance. This product is ideal for upholstery, garment and synthetic and vegetable retanned upholstery leather.
Cutapol LFZ can be added diluted with water or undiluted to floats and forms an emulsion. Recommended storage temperature is between 3-35°C.
Cutapol TLL: Similar to LFZ, this product is particulary suitable for fatliquoring aniline leathers, particulary soft clothing and all upholstery articles, as the main fatliquor.
Leathers fatliquored with TLL have excellent softness, good dyeability and levelness. TLL also has good lightfastness and buffability as well as a full and round handle. The anionic orange liquid is a combination of natural and synthetic sulfoester derivatives, modified vegetable oils and high molecular aliphatic hydrocarbons.
The product is cloudy in appearance outside the recommended storage temperature which is between 3-35°C.
Cutapol LEO: Dark brown anionic liquid combination of ester sulfonates, modified vegetable oils and high molecular aliphatic hydrocarbons. LEO renders the leather with a soft, round and slightly waxy feel and is suitable for fatliquoring all types of leathers.
It produces leather with a reduced water absorbing capacity and an intensified gloss. LEO also provides good dyeability and levelness. Recommended storage temperature is between 3-35°C and the product should be stirred well before sampling or use.
All three new fatliquors are resistant to electrolytes in the usual working concentrations.
Tannit VWL: Anionic brown liquid syntan with a chemical formula which features a condensate product of methylene linked to nitrogen containing hydroxy aryl sulfonic acids. VWL is recommended for use on upper, upholstery and ovine nappa leathers particularly when dyeing pastel shades.
Adding Dr Böhme’s latest syntan will produce leathers with good softness and fullness, good lightfastness and improved firmness to the grain. Leathers retanned with Tannit VWL have a light/white colour and the product can be mixed with water in all proportions. It is resistant to chromium and aluminium salts as well as to synthetic and vegetable tannins in typical working concentrations.
Talfurol CLT: A cationic fatliquoring agent for leather, which above all improves the intensity of the dyeing. Talfurol CLT provides leather with a silky, pleasant and warm handle, without filling the leather too much.
