This year, Turkish leather designers have announced the 2003-2004 season fashion trends on a platform founded in Modarium in the ILD Fair. Trends announced by designers under the name of ‘Trends Arena’ were exhibited in a platform composed in Modarium. Trends prepared by leather designers completely inspired by nature were presented in five themes named ‘Purification’, ‘Serenity’, ‘Optimism’, ‘Conservative’, and ‘Obsession’. As a result of five months collective work, colour and tissue works came to the fore as classical and avant-garde. While countless colour varieties caught visitors’ eyes, there were also different colour and material variations where textile and leather were used together.

Creators of trends declared that they have combined the tastes of leather buyers in the Russian and European markets with those around the world.

The Trends Arena was a good place to start for both designers and the leather firms and will act as a guide for Turkish and world firms and designers preparing for the season.

Conservative

Domestic textures, porous leather, masculine thick textures of any kind, lusterless surfaces, serious brown shades, classical colours. Definite contours which do not allow any interpretation. Large splits and definiteness are dominant.

Obsession

Red: colour of passion and obsession. Embossed textures formed by the nature itself. Rough, hard-pressed surfaces. Provocative red, mysterious purple colours, which arouse curiosity, a contrast to Bohemian style.

Optimism

Abundance and soil. Energetic warm colours. Positive energy taken from nature, bark appearances. Depths of woods, as well as embossed designs.

Pure

Serene brilliance, tone-in-tone colours melting in each other. Degraded transparent appearance. Cotton and crystal effects, soft texture. Very calm, pure, sentimental, purified minimalist expression. Silky textures.

Serenity

A pellucidity feeling, besides the deepest shades of blue. Depth of ocean blue. Transition of sky to twilight. Reflection of sunrays on the water’s surface. Tracks of waves on rocks dominate textures.
