Argos claimed that they had relied on advice given by the defendant that DMF was safe. The defendant vigorously denied that any such advice had been given, during a hard fought trial in November last year.

At the end of the day the court sided with the claimants’ evidence and the presiding judge, Mrs Justice Thirlwall, gave Argos and Homebase the green light to claim back losses from Leather Trade House Ltd.

The Board of Leather Trade House said that they were surprised and disappointed at the ruling and would now study the judgement in detail with legal advisers and consider the future position.
