LeatherXchange declared insolvency less than a week before their planned Automotive Leather Conference at the Jaguar Conference Centre in Coventry, UK, March 22-23.

There had been speculation in recent weeks as to whether the conference would go ahead as some of the listed speakers professed that they were completely unaware of their projected roles in the proceedings.

Leather International spoke to a number of the delegates who only learned on the afternoon of March 17 that the conference had been pulled. At such a late date, they had already paid the conference fee and booked their hotels and travel. One expressed his dismay at how this might affect the image of the leather industry since the event also involved a number of people from other industries.

We would like to point out that this unfortunate circumstance is in no way connected with our own upholstery leather conference planned for Verona, Italy, May 1-2, and being organised jointly with Ron Sauer of theSauerReport. Arrangements for this event are proceeding according to plan.
