Malcolm Proops, director, Walter Reginald Group, was elected as the new president during the LHTBI AGM which took place prior the lunch.

The LHTBI was established in 1860 following a meeting held in a coffee shop on Ludgate Hill, London. The first president was J S Deed and first payment that was made was for £18.14 (US$26.5) was distributed to the needy from the leather and leather products industries who had fallen on hard times.

In 2009 the LHTBI distrbuted funds worth £70,000 (US$102,000).
