The achievements reinforce the commitment of Brazilian leather sector in developing the best environmental practices. These efforts are in agreement with the purposes of sustainability that CICB seek. On August 29, CICB are organising the 1st CICB Sustainability Forum, in Novo Hamburgo (Brazil) during the Courovisão trade fair. This activity will bring together some of the most outstanding Brazilian environmental specialists responsible for the development of the leather production chain. Some of the topics of the forum are traceability of cattle: a tool for environment protection, water management and sustainable business practices.
 
The following tanneries have received LWG ratings recently:

Durli: its tanning unit located in Cuiabá, which previously had a silver rating has now achieved the gold rating this time. Additionally, the tannery of Durli in Xingura, audited for the first time, also achieved a gold rating.
Coming Ind. e Com. de Couros: the company received an LWG audits at their headquarters in Trindade. The company was recertified as gold.
Couro do Norte: The company are located in Belem and have received their first audit by the BLC and achieved a silver rating from the LWG. The audit took place on June, 18-19, 2012.
