Mirza Tanners Ltd (MTL), a leading exporter of shoes and manufacturer of popular brands such as Red Tape, are planning to set up a production facility near Delhi to meet rising demand.
According to Kuruvila Kuriakose, director, the production facility will be operational by around 2004. Currently, the company operate three production facilities in India, with two plants located in Kanpur and one in Noida.
MTL have also recently won a large order to produce shoes for the US-based Rockport Shoes (a division of Reebok). MTL will export around 150,000 shoes in the first consignment.
MTL are also in the process of forming a subsidiary called Mirza USA.
