Asian sports shoe manufacturer Pan Group have installed new Satra software in their eight Thai factories in Sriracha, Kabinburi, Bangkok and Ayutthaya. SATRAData is a system designed to provide accurate and reliable time standards for the various individual elements or tasks carried out during footwear production, including lean manufacturing. It can therefore eliminate the need for conventional time study.

The values it calculates are realistic and achievable and can be used for costing, line balancing, monitoring performance and incentive schemes. The software, combined with SATRA’s comprehensive training, improves productivity – leading to reduced costs.

For the Pan Group the SATRAData 6 database is located on a main server at Pan Tech R & D Co Ltd (PTR) in Sriracha and the other factories are linked via a wide area network, simplifying the ability to share knowledge.

‘We wanted to be able to analyse and implement best methods and standardise procedures to calculate accurate time standards for costing and line balancing’, says Urusaya Christathai, the Pan Group project co-ordinator. ‘SATRAData 6 has allowed us to do this.’

Satra has now completed the on-site training of personnel using the system and staff from all eight factories have been working together to analyse operations for new models and compile accurate time standards.

Rama Shoes, another sports shoe supplier in Thailand, have upgraded their SATRAData system to version 6 and a further installation of this version has been carried out by Satra’s Stuart Irons at footwear manufacturer P T Pratama Adabi Industri in Indonesia – together with user training of all relevant staff.
