DyStar, the world’s premier textile dyes company with headquarters in Frankfurt, Germany, have acquired the business activities of the Rotta Group effective from the end of 2004. Financial details of the deal are not to be disclosed.

DyStar have around 3,900 employees worldwide with an annual turnover of about e790 million. Rotta are producers of chemical auxiliaries for the textile, leather and paper industries. At the time of the takeover, the company had about 200 employees and served 1,300 customers in 80 countries.

The acquisition comprised Rotta’s business in Germany and subsidiaries in Brazil, China, France, Italy and Türkiye. ‘Rotta is an established supplier whose products fit in well with our portfolio’ , explained DyStar’s CEO Dr Clemens Willée. For his company the acquisition was the first step in the expansion of DyStar’s product portfolio.

Alfred Mittelmann, the former managing director of Rotta, is now managing director of the whole auxiliaries business at DyStar Auxiliaries GmbH. Klaus Freund remains head of the leather division. He believes the prospects of this sector are very good and he is forecasting a notable two figure growth rate for the current year. The leather division at DyStar Auxiliaries GmbH is expected to be expanded further.
