S B Foot are putting their wet-blue plant in Texas up for sale. Prior to closing the Cactus plant, they operated two blue plants – the Texas plant and Twin City Tanning Company in St Paul, Minnesota. The latter plant is a partnership between Twin City Hide Company and S B Foot Tanning Company and is located only 45 miles from Foot’s finishing plant in Red Wing, Minnesota.
Foot are still doing their own bluing and intend to continue to do so. Given the overall contraction in the tanning industry in the US, however, it became apparent that they did not need to be operating two separate wet-blue plants.
The plant itself is well equipped and in good shape and they hope to sell it to another company who will put it to good use.
