Sadesa leather products will star in the World Cup 2002 teams’ footwear. The company say: ‘Just as Latin American players dominate World Cup soccer so, too, does Argentina-based Sadesa, a global leather manufacturer, lead the supply of the soccer footwear market.

The company’s leather products will be found in the majority of World Cup teams’ footwear made from bovine leather, including those manufactured by Adidas, Nike, Umbro, Puma, Mizuno etc.

‘We provide a high quality, lightweight leather that is ideal for the hard, fast play in soccer’, noted Andres Galperin, vice president marketing and sales at Sadesa.

‘The fact that we are the major supplier of the leather used in the soccer footwear industry worldwide is a testament to the strong partnerships we form with our customers, and constant innovation is jointly developed with them. We work closely with their development teams on the design and implementation of their new models.’

Sadesa have created leather products for the soccer footwear market in a range of price points, offering manufacturers wide choices. At the high end, for the professional player, they developed their breakthrough Ultra Light Technology (ULT), creating an upper material that provides players’ with enhanced sense of touch, giving them comfort, control and performance at the highest competitive level.

At the mid-range, the company have developed extra-soft, rich leathers, blending comfort, performance, protection and durability for ultra-competitive weekend players. Lower-end priced leathers enable soccer footwear manufacturers to upgrade their mid-low models using full grain soft leathers, replacing splits or man-made materials and providing consumers with higher performance products at a reasonable price.

‘When the top soccer brands needed a leather that would enable them to reduce the weight of footwear significantly, we worked in developing just what the market was looking for’, said Galperin.

In 1984, Sadesa introduced Weatherproof technology to help players better perform in wet and rainy conditions, keeping their shoes lighter and softer throughout their use. Today, Weatherproof is a standard for the industry and is offered in Sadesa’s complete range of soccer leathers. ULT (Ultra Light Technology), launched in 1998, created the first bovine ultra light high performance leather, competing with kangaroo at a more convenient price. Sadesa are currently working on the next generation of soccer leathers which will allow players to perform at an even higher level.

With headquarters in Buenos Aires, Sadesa are one of the largest leather manufacturers in the world, producing 14 million sq ft of quality crust and finished leather per month in their ten industrial facilities around the world and employing 2,750 people.
