The production of leather and leather products in Serbia in the first five months of this year was 6.1% lower than in the same period in 2007. In comparison, Serbian industrial output in the January to May period this year was 5% higher year-on-year.
The average monthly wage in Serbia’s leather industry in the first five months of this year was US$390, 23.6% higher than in the same period in 2007. In comparison, the average monthly wage in Serbia in the January to May period this year was US$860.
Serbian five-month foreign trade
Serbia's Statistical Office reports that Serbia exported leather and leather products worth E71.0 million in the first five months of this year, compared with E62.1 million in the same period in 2007. Serbian imports of the same types of commodities in the January to May period this year were worth E121 million, as against E100 million in the corresponding period in 2007.
