Chimec SpA, part of the Gruppo Chimico Dalton, launched several new products at Tanning Tech, including several new syntans.
Daltan G Liquid is a syntan that gives parallel neutralising and retanning actions on all chrome tanned leathers. The product’s anionic characteristics allow the isoelectric point of wet-blue leathers to be lowered, therefore improving the penetration of retanning agents, dyestuffs and fatliquors.
Daltan G Liquid has an anionic charge and is compatible with anionic and non-ionic products.
It is stable from pH0-14 and has a pH (10% sol) at 20°C of 6.5 +-0.5. It is a limpid brown liquid and soluble in water.
Daltan LW is a replacement syntan, particularly recommended in the retannage of all kinds of leathers. It can be used retan upper leathers to obtain fullness and a fine grain; nubuck and suede leathers to obtain very fine buffing; garment leathers, both sheep skins and cattle hides; split leathers to obtain a good buffing effect and a short and bright fibre; and white leathers to obtain good lightfastness.
Daltan LW allows the tanner to obtain light, bright uniform and clean dyes. A bleaching action also takes place after vegetable tanning, producing leathers that are particularly suitable for light or bright dyeings.
Daltan LW can be used during the neutralisation phase or immediately after, from 2-6% on the shaved weight depending on the leather types. It is compatible with anionic and non-ionic products and is an ivory granular powder.
It is soluble in water and has a pH (10% sol) at 20°C of 3.5 +-0.5.
Daltan NN is a replacement synthetic tanning agent with a phenolic base and good tanning properties. Daltan NN produces soft and full leathers with a fine and elastic grain that can be evenly dyed and fatliquored. It can be used in the tanning phase, alone or combined with vegetable tannins. Daltan NN is particularly recommended in chrome leather retanning if good softness is required, for example for furniture, garment and gloves. It has a neutral character and can be used in a chrome leather deacidification final float as well as in a new float after deacidification. It can also be used in a fatliquoring float, producing leathers with a full and soft touch and improving absorption.
Daltan NN is a rosy white granular powder, soluble in water and compatible with anionic and non-ionic products. It has a pH (10% sol) at 20°C of 5.5 +-0.5.
Daltan TLX is a replacement syntan suitable for processing white leathers or bleaching chrome leathers. It is compatible with vegetable tannins, syntans and anionic resin tanning agents. Daltan TLX provides leathers with excellent lightfastness, excellent bleaching and pigmenting effects, a fine, uniform and tight grain and a medium soft touch.
Daltan TLX has an anionic charge and is compatible with anionic and non-ionic products.
It is stable from pH0-14 and has a pH (10% sol) at 20°C of 4.0 +- 0.5. It is an ivory granular powder and soluble in water.
Daltan FNA Liquid is a replacement syntan especially recommended for retanning chrome and vegetable tanned leathers. It has low astringency values that allow the tanner to obtain light leathers with a fine and delicate grain.
Daltan FNA Liquid has an anionic charge and is compatible with anionic and non-ionic products. It is stable from pH0-14 and has a pH (10% sol) at 20°C of 3.5 +-0.5. It is a brown liquid and soluble in water.
Daltan TLE Liquid is a replacement syntan for retanning all kinds of chrome and vegetable tanned leathers, and is especially recommended for lightfast, light-coloured or pastel leathers. Leathers retanned with Daltan TLE Liquid offer a full, fine, smooth and tight grain. It is particularly suitable for nubuck and suede leathers where a fine buffing is required. The product allows for a light dyeing with bright, uniform and clean tones. The bleaching and cleaning action continues even after vegetable tanning, resulting in leather that is particularly suitable for further light or bright dyeings.
Daltan TLE Liquid is compatible with anionic and non-ionic products and is a yellow limpid liquid. It is soluble in water and has a pH (10% sol) at 20°C of 3.3 +-0.5.
Dalsint NA is an auxiliary syntan whose anionic charge promotes an even dyeing and is especially suitable for chrome-tanned leathers. Dalsint NA is a powder that can be easily dissolved in cold water, but can also be added undissolved into the dyeing float.
It is compatible with anionic and non-ionic products and is stable from pH0-14. Dalsint NA is a light brown granular powder with a pH (10% sol) at 20°C of 7.0 +-1.0.
Dalsint DSL is an auxiliary syntan that can be combined with traditional mineral and vegetable tanning agents and provides a good and homogeneous distribution in the leather. It can be used in the neutralisation of chrome-tanned leathers and keeps the grain tight and fine even when anionic retanning agents with filling properties are used. Due to its anionic character, Dalsint DSL can reduce anionic dyestuff affinity, particularly in mineral tanned leather dyeing.
Dalsint DSL is a light yellow granular powder, soluble in water and has a pH (10% sol) at 20°C of 6.5 +-0.5.
Policrom CF is a chrome syntan with good lightfastness and can be used in the retannage of chrome and vegetable tanned leathers. It produces full, round leathers with a particularly fine grain and combines the advantages of masked chrome and organic products based on phenolic syntans. Leathers retanned with Policrom CF are light-coloured, extremely lightfast and dye evenly with bright and deep shades. It can be used in quantities from 6-9% on shaved weight, depending on the leather type. It is also recommended that the float be acidified at the beginning with 0.5-1% formic or acetic acid.
Policrom CF is a green liquid with a pH (10% sol) of 2.5 +-0.5. The Cr2O3 determination (%) is 9.0 +-0.5 and the density at 20°C (g/ml) is 1.3 +-0.05.
Policrom PCF is a chrome syntan with similar properties to Policrom CF but can be used in quantities of 4-6% on the shaved weight, depending on the leather type. It is also recommended that the float be acidified with 0.5-1.0% formic or acetic acid at the beginning of the process. Policrom PCF has a Cr2O3 determination (%) of 14 +-1 and a pH (10% sol) of 2.5 +-0.5.
Policrom PCN is a chrome syntan that can be used in the retannage of any kind of chrome of vegetable tanned leathers. The organic component, based on phenolic syntans, combined with a high concentration of masked chrome salts, allows tanners using Policrom PCN to obtain particularly bright and even dyeings. It should be used in quantities of 4-8% on the shaved weight, depending on the leather type and the desired end product. It is also recommended that the float be acidified with 0.5-1.0% formic or acetic acid at the beginning of the process. Policrom PCN is a green powder with a Cr2O3 determination (%) of 16 +-1 and a pH (10% sol) of 3.5 +-0.5.
