Finnish shoe makers Sievin Jalkine bought the Lapuan Nahka tannery in August. Lapuan, located in Lapua in the west of the country, had a turnover of $5.9 million in 2001. Production in Lapua will continue and the 45 staff will transfer to the new owners.

Further staff recruitment is also on the cards. Sievin Jalkine, who employ 420, have been customers of Lapuan Nahka for the past year and posted a turnover of $33.3 million in 2001.
