The whole Tanning Tech show was housed in hall 35 of the exhibition grounds this year and included all the machinery and chemical companies under one roof. The chemical companies participated under the recently formed Italian association of leather chemical makers, UPAC but opted for smaller booths like last year. From the chemical companies attending few were from outside of Italy but there were a handful of foreign exhibitors.
Day one of the show was quiet which reflected the same feeling felt in Lineapelle and one exhibitor that Leather International spoke to described the atmosphere as ‘strange’. However, visitor numbers did pick up on the second day and a number of high profile tanners were spotted on some of the stands. Assomac, the show organisers, also hosted a number of overseas delegations including a group of tanners from Central Africa.
Most of the major tanning machinery names exhibited at the show and were highlighting several pieces of equipment on their stands, some new or upgraded. Time will tell whether the visitors at the show will turn into major equipment buyers but overall the show was more positive than the past two years.
A full round-up of the latest machinery and chemical technology from Tanning Tech will appear in a forthcoming edition of Leather International magazine.
