3M and TFL have signed a distribution agreement for 3M’s new generation of Scotchgard products. Beginning this autumn, TFL will distribute 3M’s new range of Scotchgard leather protection products to the leather tanning industry.

Combining the strengths of these two companies to meet the growing requirements of tanneries and specifiers is another example of 3M’s continued commitment to the leather industry, as well as TFL’s commitment to creating value for their customers. TFL will be in a position to bring premium protective leather treatments, with the strength of the Scotchgard brand name, to licensed tanneries.

New Scotchgard protector for leather can be used on all hides and skins (nubuck, suede and full grain leather) and will continue to provide protection from water and oil-based stains, as well as dirt. It will not change the leather’s look, feel or breathability.

‘This collaboration will allow 3M to achieve a faster and more global market penetration with our new line of Scotchgard brand products for leather’, said Mike Harnetty, vice president, 3M protective materials division.

TFL’s worldwide presence, with over 200 technicians will provide global customer care and ensure the availability of superior systems and excellent service. TFL will work directly with the tanneries to ensure the best combination of leather chemicals with the Scotchgard protector leather products to provide optimum protection.

‘The cooperation with 3M will leverage TFL’s technical expertise, systems and service in leather protection and, ultimately, provide the added value to complete solutions that our customers expect’, said Heider Krenz, president, TFL.
