Ukraine’s State Statistics Committee reports that production of leather and leather products in Ukraine in the first half of this year was 4.8% lower than in the same period in 2006. In comparison, overall industrial output in Ukraine in the January to June period this year was 11.8% higher year-on-year.

Ukraine exported leather and leather products worth US$148 million in the first five months of this year, a year-on-year increase of 52%. Ukrainian imports of the same types of commodities in the January to May period were 22% higher year-on-year at US$60 million.
