Unido has approved funding of US$197,000 through its Industrial Decade for Africa (IDDA) fund for the Meet in Africa experts’group meeting which is scheduled for October 2002 in Tunis, Tunisia.
The purpose of the meeting is to launch a concrete proposal for trade development in the leather industry in Africa. This is to be implemented, in particular, with FAO and ITC, UNCTAD/WTO in cooperation with Assomac, Italy.
It will also help coordinate of efforts made by various development agencies worldwide to transfer technology to developing countries and assist the entire leather community in coping with common problems such as waste management.
