Vietnamese exports of leather shoes to the United States have increased dramatically since the US granted most favoured nation (MFN) status to Vietnam towards the end of last year, according to the Vietnamese News Agency.

Vietnam exported footwear worth US$2.6 billion in 2004, a year-on-year increase of 15%. Analysts in Hanoi say that Vietnam was the world’s fourth largest footwear exporter behind China, Hong Kong and Italy in 2004.
