Organised by the ICT and CICB and co-sponsored by the Brazilian fair organiser, Couromoda, the congress will include key industry speakers from 14 countries covering a wide range of topics including;

  • World cattle and meat industry
  • Leather industry – present and future
  • Footwear market perspectives
  • Ecology and leather
  • Leather luxury and high fashion
  • International trade
  • Automotive and upholstery leather

The official programme and speaker listing will be announced in May by the organisers but they already said that they had confirmations from a former Brazilian Minister of Agriculture who now works for the meat and tanning giant, JBS as well as Leonardo Ferragamo of the Italian luxury brand, Salvatore Ferragamo.

The World Leather Congress takes place in the same venue as the World Footwear Congress, which takes place on November 7-8. Goerlich said that he hoped that Congress would be the first of many and would take place in different countries every 2-3 years in the future.
