Bridge of Weir supply leather for top London venues

Bridge of Weir Leather, part of Scottish Leather Group, and manufacturers of quality upholstery and sustainable Low Carbon Leather, have recently supplied the leather for both Jason Atherton’s Pollen Street Social and Harvey Nichol’s Oxo Tower Bar.

Pollen Street Social is Atherton’s first solo venture since winning a Michelin star. Located in central London, Bridge of Weir leather has been used to accommodate an informal yet stylish atmosphere.

Bridge of Weir hides in Skye Black were used on button-back banquet seating booths in the ground floor’s main bar and dining area which accommodate up to 60 and 45 guests respectively. Elsewhere, Caledonian Bottle Green leather was chosen for a curved seating area and hides in Skye Royal Blue were specified for straight backed seating.

Following a concept from Shanghai based design company ‘Neri and Hu’, Bridge of Weir leather was selected as a result of their renowned reputation for producing quality leather and to create a low-key atmosphere of luxury, similar to that of the vibrant New York restaurants.

At the Oxo Tower Bar, situated on the south bank of the River Thames, Bridge of Weir leather was used on the bar interior and reflects the original design elements from the adjoining restaurant and brasserie.

Within the bar, hides were used for the tub chairs and curved seating booths. The bespoke yellow colour specified by the designers was created specially by BoW leather. Designers Shaun Clarkson ID, selected leather to retain the impression of a classic cruise liner in keeping with the riverside location, while including noticeably modern touches.

Sasha Filskow, designer at Shaun Clarkson ID commented: ‘We work with Bridge of Weir Leather for their consistency in delivering high quality products and are a reliable supplier. The overall colour range and flexible bespoke service that they offer is perfect for the projects that we work on and ideal for destination venues such as the Oxo Tower bar.

The fast turnaround times and Low Carbon Leather marque helps to contribute to the sustainability angle of our work, ensuring that we will continue to specify their leather for use in the future.’

Jamie Davidson, Sales Director for Bridge of Weir leather said: ‘We are delighted that Bridge of Weir leather was specified for such a well recognised, destination restaurant and bar. The standard and quality of the food, music and atmosphere found within both the Oxo Tower Bar and Pollen Street Social is reflected in the high standard of design and the quality of materials used in the refurbishment, a testament to the quality we have become known for.’

This year’s Restaurant Bar and Design Awards have seen the Oxo Tower Bar nominated in the ‘Restaurant, bar or club in another space category’.
