DyStar complete REACH pre-registration

18 December 2008

DyStar completed pre-registration of all relevant chemicals under the new REACH Regulation by the deadline of December 1, 2008. Pre-registration was undertaken for all DyStar companies, both in the European Union and elsewhere.

The REACH Regulation on the registration, evaluation, authorisation of chemicals came into effect on June 1, 2007. The aim of the Regulation is to protect human health and the environment when using chemical substances. Pre-registration is the precondition for manufacturing chemicals in Europe or importing them into the European Union in the future. The next step required for compliance with the REACH Regulation is phased registration of the chemicals on the basis of their hazard potential and the amount produced or imported. J Mark Allan, CEO and President of DyStar is confident that the company are well-prepared for REACH: ‘Thanks to our experience and good groundwork we are sure we can go on producing and marketing our products in Europe after 2008. With DyStar as their partner, our customers are on the safe side in the future as well.'
