First Restorm progress meeting

16 February 2003

The first six-month project progress meeting took place in the Spanish tanning town of Igualada, January 9-10. Restorm (the Radical Environmentally Sustainable Tannery Operation by Resource Management) is a e10 million EC supported project aimed at assisting European tanners to change production measures to ensure a sustainable manufacturing industry in the future. The project is taking place over four years and includes twenty partners from eight European countries. A total of 42 delegates from across Europe attended the two-day meeting which was held at the Spanish leather research centre AIICA. Details of the 5th framework were discussed at the meeting and the findings will be published at a later date. A second meeting is due to take place in Prague, Czech Republic, in six months.
