Hubbard to lead Satra team

3 September 2007

John Hubbard has been appointed to lead Satra's research team, adding his experience in chemistry to enhance the group's all-round capabilities. He worked previously in Satra's chemical analysis team and has regularly led seminars in the UK and Far East on managing restricted substances in many types of consumer product. The research team has a broad remit. While footwear remains its core focus, its activities also extend to many other consumer product sectors in which Satra operates - including furniture, luggage, automotive and personal protective equipment (PPE). One recent notably major success has been the development of Satra's Advanced Moisture Management test which assesses the thermal and water permeability properties of whole shoes. Hubbard has a degree in colour chemistry and dyeing from Leeds University in the UK and prior to joining Satra in 1996 was a research chemist for British Coal. He now represents the technology centre on several committees dealing with industry safety and health, the environment and chemical testing of textiles.
