Hungarian leather production and sales

Hungary's Central Statistical Office reports that the production of leather and leather products in Hungary in the first eight months of this year was 5.1% lower than in the same period in 2004. Hungarian leather industry companies saw their sales fall by 6.8% year-on-year in the January to August period, including a fall in sales of 24.7% on the domestic Hungarian market and 0.4% higher sales on export markets. During the same period, imported leather and leather products amounted to US$212 million, a year-on-year fall of 7.2%. Hungarian exports of the same types of commodities were 30.5% higher year-on-year at US$87.2 million.
