Investors from China, Taiwan and South Korea are in talks to take over the production capacity of three troubled shoe makers which closed with the loss of 18,000 jobs at the end of last year. According to the chairman of the Indonesian Footwear Association (Aprisindo), Eddy Widjanarko said: 'The three manufacturers, PT Tong Yang, PT Dong Joe and PT Spotec, mainly make footwear for Reebok (owned by Adidas, Germany). PT Tong Yang, Bekasi, have been looking for new financing and PT Dong Joe closed last October when their owners left the country. Their sister company PT Spotec closed when their suppliers refused them further credit. The latter two factories are situated in Tangerang on the outskirts of Jakarta.
