Intensive BSLT course for SkyeSkyns

12 December 2008

Jessica Hartwell and Pete Winterbourne from SkyeSkyns, one of the few remaining manufacturers and suppliers of sheepskins in the UK, visited The University of Northampton's BSLT in December for an intensive five day, tailor-made course.

The course was designed to ‘future-proof' the business with scientific knowledge and technical updates, ensuring any changes in environmental legislation have minimal impact on the Highlands-based firm. Jessica said: ‘The course backs up the biological and chemical processes behind what we do at SkyeSkyns and brings new ways into how to work more efficiently. It's important to keep the old crafts alive and our strong links with the University contribute to that, so it was well worth the thirteen hour journey to get to Northampton. ‘Sheepskin and natural things are very fashionable amongst designers and at SkyeSkyns we produce cutting-edge skins to inspire them.'
