Meet in Africa 2004

From October 6-9, 2004, Addis Ababa in Ethiopia will host Meet in Africa at the Centre of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA). Even before the event, Meet in Africa has already confirmed its position as the biggest leather industries event in Africa. Indeed, so far, the International Trade Centre has registered about 290 applications from African and non-African firms. The 247 African companies include 65 from Ethiopia, 73 from other ESALIA countries, 75 from northern Africa and 34 from other African countries (southern, central and western Africa). As for international companies, there are 40 participants to date. They come mainly from Italy (with a collective ASSOMAC pavilion and the presence of ICE), from Brazil (with a collective ASSINTECAL pavilion), from the UK, France, Spain, Türkiye, Iran and India. The sectors represented are: finished and semi-finished leathers, finished products, footwear, fancy goods, leather clothing, chemicals, materials and equipment, components and services. On October 7, 8 and 9, 2004, from 16:00-18:30, the event will also include partnership and buyer/seller meetings which will help to bring together more than 300 enterprises and promote the development of business between African companies and also African and international companies. Meet in Africa will also be an opportunity for African leather professionals to gather together for the general meeting of AFLAI (African Federation of Leather and Allied Industries).
