More partners for leather with Lycra16 May 2004
Invista have included three additional tanneries in their Leather with Lycra programme in 2004 including Prime Asia Leather Corporation, Jyi-Fwu Leather Manufacturing Factory Co Ltd and Chifa Leather Corp. The tanneries were specifically selected in an effort to raise innovation in the global footwear, apparel and upholstery industries. Prime Asia Leather Corporation are leading suppliers to the global athletic and casual footear industry for brands such as Nike, Reebok, New Balance, Timberland, Rockport, K-Swiss and Adidas. The Hong Kong-based company also have a growing presence in the leather upholstery market. Taiwanese-run Jyi-Fwu Leather Manufacturing Factory Co Ltd are high quality worldwide suppliers of pig lining, split lining, pig suede and upper leather to the apparel and footwear industries. Chifa Leather Corp are prominent Taiwanese suppliers of split and corrected grain leathers to the international footwear industry. The company provide fashion and colour trends in footwear, garments, handbags, and accessories for luxury brands such as Giorgio Armani, Hugo Boss, Salvatore Ferragamo and Prada. These three new partner tanneries join an impressive list which includes two other tanneries from the Asia-Pacific region: Din of Pakistan and Yantai Quin-Jie of Yantai, China. Invista were formally known as Dupont Textiles and Interiors and were renamed in September 2003. They are currently in the process of being sold by Dupont to Koch Industries who are taking the entire fibres business of Dupont in a deal worth $4.2 billion. There are 59 manufacturing facilities for Lycra in 22 countries. Invista also have the exclusive licence for the application of Dupont's Teflon to fabrics.
