SLTC honour Satra members
26 September 2003
Two members of Satra have been honoured by the Society of Leather Technologists and Chemists. Deputy chief executive Richard Turner has been made a Fellow of the society, while Ken Nokes — a membership developer for the leather industry — has been elected as vice president. Turner represents Satra on a number of key European and international committees responsible for leather test methods and also serves on the SLTC technical committee. A chemist by training, he has been a member of the society for more than 25 years and often lectures at its seminars. Nokes will become president of the SLTC in September 2004 and hold the post for two years. He says: 'The society makes a considerable contribution to the social and technical activities of the worldwide leather industry. I have enjoyed my membership for many years and am delighted and honoured to be elected vice president.' He recruits and develops members from the leather industry for Satra. A leather chemistry university graduate, he worked in tanneries for more than 30 years; as a technologist, manager and director. Ken is also chairman of both the technical liaison group British School of Leather Technology and the Society of Leather Technologists and Chemists (Northampton branch).
