Splash of colour for summer

10 March 2010

Five leather fashion colour and trend themes will be displayed at the next Le Cuir A Paris that takes place in February, showing colours and textures for the spring/ summer 2011 season. We highlight below a pictorial theme with accompanying text for each trend and provide a colour palette presented by the fashion stylists employed by the organisers of the show. The next Le Cuir A Paris will take place in Hall 4 of the Paris Nord Villepinte Exhibition Park on the outskirts of Paris, February 9-12, 2010

Archaic garden
This theme is made up from whitened, stony, mineral or delicately fruity colours. Soft or faded light colours.
An archaic garden where the primitive joins forces with the antique. Where archaeologists decipher hieroglyphics that speak of gods, man and plants. Forbidden fruits and flowers bear forgotten names such as kumquat, papyrus and rosewood. Nestled in shadowy niches, worn mosaics hide behind twisted and dried branches of ivy. Collapsed columns and arches form a mound of worn stones, hiding fossils.

Underwater variation
This range delves into the blue and aqua green colours of marine life. Sea anemone pink is enhanced by inky blues and purples. Navy and brown darken the landscape and contrast with white bubbles.
Ebbing and flowing with the tide this theme swims and dives into the abyss to explore the ocean depths. We discover marine flora and fauna, submerged cities, buried amphora and pots. A mysterious world, an aquatic bubble. At the surface a stormy summer's day,
bright with magnetic lightening, the horizon plunging into the ocean.

Tropical drama

This colour range features solar, incandescent and spicy shades of the tropics. Bright yellow, uninhibited parrot green, the orange of Tibetan monks’ clothing, the entire spectrum of reds from purple to salmon pink, bushy brown to deep blue.Wild nature plays all its cards. It evokes paradise lost with all its misleading tricks. Pretty green vines encircle and exuberant flowers are giant. A blend of multi-coloured macaws in the jungle.

Enchanted picnic
The range sets your teeth on edge with strong vivid colours. The neon colours are whitened. Jelly pink is transparent, the pastels are over-bright. The bright shades are on fire, tempered by a reasonable grey and a measured beige. A festival of glamorous colours and fun materials. The dawn of artificial preciousness.

Shadowy shores
Vegetable tanned colours dominate this theme. Bathed in red, dark navy like the hull of a boat, strong green and canvas shades. It also features faded colours, bleached by the salt, faded by the sun and sea.  A still and undefined place between Cyrene and Cartagena, between Libya and Syria. A desert of sand, desert of sea, wreckers, pirates, warriors from another era. The alternation of shade and dulled light. They illuminate the decks of ships run ashore, rusty anchors, ragged sails, driftwood, soft-shell crabs and tortoise shells.
