Stahl Corilene range

In a major expansion of their Corilene range, Stahl have added five new fatliquoring products and one softening polymer. Corilene HLB is a co-fatliquoring product with the properties of lecithin-based products. Good lightfastness and heat yellowing resistance make this an ideal product for use on automotive leathers to avoid damage by heat and light. It is for chrome-free and vegetable types of leather for a silky touch with a full, round feel. Good results are obtained when used in conjunction with softening polymers from the Corilene CPF range on both wet-blue and chrome-free leathers for furniture, automotive and garment applications. When used in shoe upper leathers, it will assist in reducing water absorption. Corilene DPE is a phosphoric ester-based fatliquoring product for good penetration, dispersing and softening properties for chrome-free and vegetable tanned leathers. Corilene DPE has excellent lightfastness and heat yellowing resistance and excellent stability against migration into water-borne finishes. The dispersing properties make this a useful product in combination with other fatliquoring agents to make them more electrolytically stable. It can also be combined with Corilene CPF products and Corilene HLB to give a soft leather with a silky touch. Corilene PEL is a combination of special phosphoric esters and well-dispersed synthetic-based fatliquoring substances. Leathers fatliquored with Corilene PEL will be soft, full and round and, together with very low fogging values, will be ideal for chrome-free automotive and vegetable tanned leather. Other properties include good lightfastness, very good heat yellowing resistance and excellent stability to migration. Corilene WP-E is a waterproof emulsifier that may be used with other products in the Corilene WP system to improve hydrophobicity. It is more stable during storage than many other products and has a wide range of applications throughout the wet-end process as well as for rewetting waterproofed crust leather. To improve effectiveness, the application pH must be above 5 as this allows the product to penetrate completely across the cross-section, even on heavier substances. Consideration needs to be given to excessive water hardness and electrolyte content as this may reduce the effectiveness of the product. Corilene WP-E can also be used as an effective degreasing agent on sheep and goat skins without any adverse effect. Corilene CPLW is the newest of the compact polymer family to be specially developed for the production of automotive split leathers. It can also be used on wet-blue and wet-white when it gives an excellent softness to the leather. The resulting leathers are full and round, having little stretch thus giving good buffing properties. They give a soft warm touch. Dyeing is level and brilliant. Since Corilene CPLW exhausts almost completely, COD values are very low. The product possesses low fogging, high lightfastness and heat yellowing resistance properties and will impart good physical strength to the leather. Corilene SNA is a fatliquoring agent that is based on sulfited special animal oils and which greatly improves physical properties. These oils give good lightfastness and heat yellowing resistance while providing a pleasant homogeneous softness with the characteristic touch that is typical of sulfited products. There is little or no odour when using this product. A tight grain is achieved and this is recommended for high performance automotive leather as Corilene SNA also has a low fogging value. Other applications are diverse and include all soft leather types such as clothing and glove leathers.
