APLF target Indian footwear sector
APLF, in association with IFCOMA, has launched the ‘Footwear Materials Manufacturing & Technology fair’ (fMM&T) which will be held in New Delhi, India from May 8 -10, 2009. The objective in bringing this event to India is to support the nation’s burgeoning footwear and associated industries. In addition, India has the world's 4th largest economy by GDP (in purchasing power parity terms), and therefore represents a large domestic market waiting to be tapped. According to estimates 2.8 % of the population are able to spend over US$30,000 per year on conspicuous consumption. Furthermore, India's US$5 billion footwear market is growing at around 10% a year.
