Footwear standardisation committees meet
On October 20-21, the leather and footwear research institute Inescop, Spain, hosted meetings of the European Committee for standardisation, CEN/TC 309 and the International Organisation for Standardisation, ISO/ TC 216. Representatives from across Europe were joined by participants from China and South Africa to take decisions on the test methods used in the footwear industry. A total of fifteen standards covering various aspects of the footwear industry are currently being drafted including the resistance and strength of components such as zips, uppers as well as some concerning the use of chemical products.
