Business relations and the opening of new markets are among the objectives of the Brazilian leather sector with the Business Mission to India, which begins on 31 January 31.
Four companies and the Centre for the Brazilian Tanning Industry (CICB) are taking part in the activity, expecting to generate more than $10 million in business. The group’s agenda includes the participation at India International Leather Fair (IILF), business meetings and technical visits. It also has support from Brazilian Leather, a sectoral project coordinated by CICB in partnership with the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil) for the promotion of leather exports.
The Brazilian delegation will be welcomed by Council for Leather Exports (CLE-India) representatives. The first activity in India is the participation at IILF, in Chennai, with individual stands, from 1-3 February. The event is focused on business and is reaching its 30th edition. Following the event, the group has a series of business meetings with previously selected executives, as well as technical visits to local tanneries and industries from the footwear and accessories segments, in both Chennai and New Deli.
According to executive president of CICB, José Fernando Bello, India is a promising market for leather produced in Brazil.
"This mission is highly connected to the strategic objectives from the Brazilian leather sector," he says, "which aims at diversifying buying countries, increasing the number of clients and destinies for Brazilian leather exports."
The Business Mission to India goes until 6 February.
