Institute for Creative Leather Technologies, University of Northampton (ICLT)

ICLT builds upon their international reputation for leather education and their proven excellence in fashion, footwear and wearable accessory design. Collectively, it creates a globally unique centre that embraces the technical, scientific, creative and end-user elements of the leather and leather-product value chain.

Across these value chains, ICLT's activities focus on:
- Accredited short courses
- Pure and applied research
- Knowledge transfer and exchange
- Undergraduate and post-graduate taught programmes

ICLT is a forerunner at the University in developing innovative course delivery to meet the professional development and employment needs on an international level.
Recent research and consultancies have been in the fields of zirconium and aluminium tannages, environmental tannages for fish, collagen production, tannery audits, process and product design.
Beyond the core activities of leather technology and fashion design, the institute activities are linked to other disciplines within the University such as podiatry, psychology, wastes and resource management, environmental science, product design and international business management.
