Cargill announce feedlot closure

17 December 2013

After operating since 1985 and now handling more than 120,000 cattle annually, the Cargill, Inc. yard in Lockney Texas will shut down next summer, according to reports in The Plainview Daily Herald, but no date has been set for the closure.
Cargill spokesman Mike Martin said decreasing cattle supply in the region, as well as the rising cost of feed, accounted for the planned closure of Cargill Cattle Feeders Lockney, about 45 miles northeast of Lubbock.
