Dawn Tannery fire in Kanpur

Around 9am, a major fire broke out at the Dawn tannery, a leather tanning unit owned by Mohd Shakir in the Chakeri police district. The fire spread to other buildings in the unit.

Factory workers and locals alerted the Jajmau Fire station. It took nearly an hour for the firefighters to put out the fire.
“A short circuit might have caused the fire," said a fire official.

“The exact reason for the fire is yet to be ascertained. But as per the tannery owner, fire devastated finished and unfinished leathers. The loss is yet to be ascertained," said a police official at Chakeri police station.
