24 August 2018

Hidenet Publications announces that Vera L. Dordick has been named vice-president of the company. The change is effective immediately and reflects her success within the organisation.

“Vera’s added responsibility sets the stage for her ultimate position as CEO upon my eventual retirement. This will ensure the continuity of Hidenet’s service to the worldwide industry,” says Don Ohsman, Hidenet CEO and publisher.

Established in 1975, Hidenet provides weekly prices for all major hide selections, industry news about the global hide markets, and market forecasts. In 2017, Hidenet’s forecasting had an average 89% accuracy rate.

Dordick joined Hidenet in 2014 and was named managing editor in 2016. She writes four of Hidenet’s market reports: This Week in Leather, International Report, US Daily Report and US Weekly Report. She oversees the production of all company content and directs daily operations of the company.

She earned a degree in journalism and Russian from Indiana University, Bloomington, launching her career working for the US Government in Washington DC, London, and the Middle East. She transitioned into higher education, serving as assistant director of University Relations at the University of Iowa. In New York, she was director of communications at Albany Law School before moving into several entrepreneurial roles.
